Just have to know how to adapt

I bought this even after reading the reviews. But I very much wanted to make my walking staff trackable, so I ordered it.
It is very nice and solid. I was able to apply some heat from a heat gun, (hair dryer would have worked) to the nice hot, but not too hot point, and using a wooden clamp, I was able to apply just enough pressure to get the bend to the perfect spot. Then I drilled two tiny holes, just enough to get the nails started. They went in the rest of the way perfectly. The 2-sided tape kept everything in place and tight.
Thanks, I think I am really going to like this.

Too thick to bend without destroying

I bought this to make my hiking staff trackable during GeoWoodstock XVII, unfortunately I couldn't actually attach it! The coin is too thick to shape to a real stick! I agree with other reviews stating it's best suited for a baseball bat. My stick ended up being discovered by me pulling the medallion out of my pocket and allowing people to get the code from it. Very disappointed.

Too thick to bend

Looks are Spot on! Absolutely beautiful... until you try to put it on and can not form it to the walking stick. Nails enclosed are very small and as soon as you tap them, they coil up like little snakes. All in all, I am not happy with this purchase and DO NOT recommend it. trying to get it to form to the stick we managed to scuff it, gouge the stick and medallion and chip the paint. total bummer. This is the eighth medallion on this stick and unfortunately now the worst condition just because of the installation process.

Same opinion

The other reviews that state that it's too thick to bend are accurate. I tried it on a spray paint can and the medallion would need to bend to fit it. My walking stick is smaller than that! My solution to bending it was to cut relief grooves in the back of the piece. I cut 6 grooves with my dremmel tool. Made it way easier to bend and looks fantastic. Hope this helps.

Almost useless

Medal is too thick to bend by hand. Unless you are mounting to a baseball bat, you better have a machine shop or an awesome set of tools. Quality is great, but this is too thick and curve too gradual to be used with most applications. Geocache, take a note from state and National Parks on sizing the thickness. Very dissatisfied with this purchase.
