More rugged and affordable than phone

Even though I primarily cache with c:geo, this GPS is a nice addition for my longer, more rough, hikes. My Pixel 7 can sit safely in a bullet proof container in my backpack while my etrex is clipped to my backpack strap to navigate to GZ. Much easier to take if I break it than the phone $$$. I recommend buying the belt clip for it.

Great Device for Kids

After a long hunt for a device, I purchased the Garmin eTrex 22x and have been completely happy. I use for geocaching with my grandchildren. They love using it and after finding 10 geocaches, we are still learning new things it can do. The size and display are perfect for my 11 and 7 year-olds.

Setup took some effort and I recommend downloading Base Camp from Garmin. I have yet to purchase any additional software, but would gladly do it if the need arises. Garmin makes high quality products.

Typically I still use my phone, mainly because the screen is bigger, but I let them run around with the Garmin. Hope this helps.
